Hello, my lovely friends! I've been spending a lot of time reflecting on life and change and the things that I want to change to be better... These are just a few things I've started up in the new year that have made my days so much happier. and less-stressed. and awesomer.

1. Listen to an audiobook
My favorites: Shoe Dog, No Higher Honor, and Mere Christianity
It's about a 30 minute drive from my home to school or downtown, so my car is basically my second home. I love that listening to audio books allows me to feel productive and intelligent... And I don't  really have to do anything.

2. Go to bed an hour earlier
I was ridiculously tired for no apparent reason I decided to try going to bed an hour earlier last Sunday night, and WHAT IS THIS SORCERY my Monday was fabulous. I've done it each week night since then, and not only do I wake up before my alarm, but I also get way more done the next morning than I would have if I had worked for another hour at night.

3. Pack your backpack/pick out outfits the night before
I'm not running [as] late.
I'm not freaking out because I can't find my mustard yellow sweater or my french textbook (equally important, I must say).
Win win, people.

4. Make attainable goals
I have this ridiculous habit of putting about 10 too many things on each daily checklist I make. So, I've finally had to acknowledge to myself that I'm NOT A MAGICIAN nor do I have a personal assistant. I've started putting fewer, more important things on my daily checklist and being ok with the little things falling though the cracks. Stress isn't worth completing the little things.

5. Do one scary thing
I'll be honest: my "scary things" are not THAT scary. Like calling one of my colleges I applied to clarify something. Like scheduling a dentist appointment. Like emailing a non-profit about leading a program there this summer. They don't have to be big things, but finally doing the things that are slightly outside of your carefully curated comfort zone just feels so dang good, at least once you're done.

What changes have you made that have made your day? I challenge you: try one of the things I've listed. If it does not make your day that much awesomer, so sorry (contrary to popular belief, I'm not Santa) but I think you'll find yourself smiling a bit more if you try one of these things. :)

Keep being epic,
Sophia

  2. OMG I used to have impossible checklists and they never happened. Now I do really achievable (but still require me not to youtube) ones, and accomplishing them feels way better. I've also started stretching every night and morning which is nice.

  5. My scary things are exactly the same as yours. I HATE making phone calls and scheduling appointments. In fact, most adult tasks freak me out. :P

    1. Um, yes. I think we need to start a freaked-out-about-adult-tasks support group.

  6. These are such fabulous tips! And oh my gosh phone calls. The other day I called a bunch of random people to get information and I felt like a queen when I finished successfully. XD

Also, these tips are helpful for me too!! ;-) I have been wanting to get into podcasts more but audio books are a genius idea as well. Oh technology. You have much to offer to us!

Thanks for being an inspiration to me. Blessings to you!
